Fire-resistant door EI60 – 60 minutes of fire-resistance in aluminium - SAPA

# Fire-resistant door EI60

An EI60 fire door in aluminium is designed for buildings where high standards of fire protection and fire resistance are required. SAPA Door/Door Partition 2086 EI/EI₂ 60 is a high-performance fire-rated door solution offering flexibility for a wide range of projects.

SAPA 2086 combines fire resistance with the strength and stability of aluminium and the flexibility to achieve a modern architectural design. The system can be used in both interior and exterior applications and configured with different glazing, infill and door options.

EI60 door in aluminium

An EI60 door is used in fire-compartmentation constructions where fire resistance according to class EI 60 or EI₂ 60 is required. SAPA 2086 is a robust and proven system with an 86 mm profile depth, developed to meet demanding requirements for fire-rated doors and glazed partitions.

The system can be configured as single or double-leaf doors and complemented with sidelights and transoms. Different mullion and transom configurations and glazed wall sections are also possible, providing flexibility for larger fire-compartmentation solutions.

EI60 fire door with glass

A fire-rated door can combine fire protection with daylight and transparency. With approved fire-rated glass, an EI60 fire door with glass can be integrated into modern, open building environments without compromising the relevant fire-performance requirements.

SAPA 2086 EI/EI₂ 60 can be combined with several approved fire-rated glass types, including Pyrostop 60, Contraflam 60, Pyrobel 25 and Polflam EI60. The fire-rated glazing can also be combined with, for example, burglar-resistant and acoustic-rated glass.

SAPA 2086 – fire rating EI/EI₂ 60

SAPA Door/Door Partition 2086 EI/EI₂ 60 is a high-performance fire protection system with 86 mm profiles. The system is approved for both interior and exterior applications and can be used for doors as well as larger glazed wall sections.

The doors can be configured as single or double-leaf doors, with or without sidelights and transoms. The system can also be fitted with a rebated threshold, automatic threshold or configured without a threshold. Concealed cable routing within the profiles and a protective plate on the lower part of the door leaf are additional configuration options.

EI60 fire doors for different buildings

EI60 doors are used in buildings where fire compartmentation and fire safety are key considerations in the design. SAPA 2086 can, for example, be used in:

  • Offices and commercial properties

  • Schools and educational buildings

  • Public buildings

  • Hotels and other public environments

  • Commercial properties

  • Interior fire-compartmentation applications

  • Exterior constructions where fire resistance is required

By combining doors with sidelights, transoms or larger glazed wall sections, the solution can be adapted to the function and architectural expression of the building.

Fire protection, security and functionality

SAPA 2086 EI/EI₂ 60 can be combined with RC2 and RC3 classifications, making it possible to integrate fire protection and burglary resistance into the same door solution. The system also offers several options for thresholds, glazing and infills depending on the requirements of the project.

For projects where specific smoke-tightness requirements also apply, SAPA 2086 is available in a configuration with Sa/S200. This is a separate classification and should not be confused with the EI/EI₂ 60 classification itself.

Design and surface finishes

An EI60 door must meet demanding technical requirements while still offering design flexibility for modern buildings. SAPA 2086 allows for different glazing and infill solutions, as well as design glass and decorative panels.

The profiles can be finished by anodising or powder coating, making it possible to adapt the appearance of the doors to the building’s other materials and colour scheme.

Aluminium with a long service life

Aluminium is a strong and stable material with a long service life and low maintenance requirements. SAPA’s fire-rated systems are designed to provide robust solutions that perform over time.

SAPA also works with recycled aluminium through Hydro CIRCAL. SAPA states that the solutions contain at least 75% recycled components and are 95% recyclable.
