Elegance 52 SX

Continuous Structurally Clamped Curtain Walling

Characteristics

Elegance 52 SX is a structurally clamped aluminium curtain wall system where the glass is retained directly towards the standard structure of Elegance 52 ST with the use of concealed pressure plates. The retained intercalary profile between the double glazed panes provides the area to insert the pressure plates which are directly screwed in the central groove of the mullions and transoms.

The Elegance 52 SX solution provides an economic alternative to traditional structural glazed curtain walls and creates a flush surface appearance.

System features of the Elegance 52 SX aluminium facade:

  • Based on the connection and mullion drainage principles of the Elegance 52 ST, the Elegance 52 SX solution uses specialist double glazed units with a silicone seal between adjacent panes for a flush glazed appearance
  • The outer pane of the double glazed unit is structurally bonded to the inner pane and a continuous system specific void is formed around the perimeter to create an area into which continuous half pressure plates can be manoeuvered and secured directly to the nosing of the mullions and transoms
  • Once installed the half pressure plates form a complete continuous clamp on the inner pane of the unit which secures and seals it to the curtain wall
  • This solution provides an economic alternative to traditional structural glazed curtain walls and creates a flush surface appearance

Design and aesthetics of the Elegance 52 SX aluminium facade:

  • A wide range of cover caps including bull nose, rectangular, aerofoil etc gives design freedom to design visually interesting curtain walling
  • By combining different cover caps for horizontal and vertical applications a wide range of external features is possible
  • Several designer mullions are available for internal design features
  • Mullions and transoms can be flush at the inside or specifically designed to emphasise the vertical design to complement the total building design
  • By using the various designer mullion and transom options in combination with the extensive colour range, the different aesthetic options are virtually limitless
