In central Kinna we find BRF Överås, part of a brand new neighborhood located in the middle of the community. With views of both Kinnaström and Viskan, the building offers top-class apartments, where the vision has been to create something of the highest architectural quality that at the same time blends into the center of Kinna.
Leonora Bjerke at Tengboms tells us more about the work with BRF Överås and how the project went from vision to reality.

Please tell us briefly about the project and your work with BRF Överås.
The original architect for the project is Magnus Thureborn, who, together with the developer Ludvigson Invest, developed the proposal for Överås. Tengbom Borås came into the project during the work regarding permits and we then worked on building permits and project planning.

What was your vision and where did you draw inspiration from?
The ambition was to create a building with a strong form and a clear character, a monolith that grew out of the plain and had an independent expression compared to its surroundings.
The colour and choice of materials are monochrome, with the red screen tiles matching the red sheet metal in the roof, windows and partitions, to give the building a uniform expression. In the attic corridors and balconies, there is instead a wooden façade and lighter-coloured windows, to give the building a clear inside and outside and to give a warmer feeling.
Were there any particular challenges with the project?
The project is located in the centre of Kinna, between a traditional publishing house and the town center, and the site is also located in a strong meadow, so the first residential floor starts on level 3. The special conditions of the site were both limiting and the starting point for the idea was, instead of trying to fit in and adapt to the surroundings, to create a building with a strong character that gives the feeling of having grown up on the slope.
Another constraint was of course to create something that was rational and cost-effective so that the apartments would be priced to match the market in a small town like Kinna. At the same time, we wanted to create something of high architectural quality.

Is there anything in the project you are particularly pleased with?
The choice of materials and colours in the facade together with the clear shape with the steep pitched roof, the red clapboard and the matching red sheet metal was very good, it gives the building both a bold expression but at the same time coherent and harmonious.
