The recently completed Lisbon Crime Police Headquarters in Portugal combines safety and security with stunning architecture, making use of Sapa Building System windows, doors and façade solutions.

The 80,000m² head office building of the Crime Police in Lisbon is one of the most advanced police buildings in the world. It is an upright celebration of light and life, particularly underlining the human and social aspects of everyday police work. The ‘lightness’ of the construction has been made possible by the use of straight clean frames with sizeable daylight openings.

This lightness gives a friendly and welcoming ambience, but the building’s technical and safety aspects cannot be underestimated. The systems applied here include the main entry block, incorporating bullet resistant solutions based on Sapa’s Elegance 52 curtain walling and thermally broken doors. Other parts of the building also integrate ballistic solutions based on Sapa Building System Group products that were adapted and tested to comply with the project specification.

This project is just one in a long list of successful collaborations between leading architects Saraiva + Associados (S+A Lisbon) and Sapa Building System. The architects involved Sapa Building System from the early design stages, due to the complexity and the technicality of the ambitious project.

The selection of construction partners for this particular project was primarily determined by the special characteristics of the activities to be carried out in the building. Sapa Building System was chosen to provide solutions that meet high standards in terms of performance, security and global quality. Seveme, a national leading fabricator, with experience of the sector and a longstanding partnership with Sapa, was appointed to the project.
